FAQ

The map does not appear and I get "you must put your Google API Key..."

No key has been registered. Call TEdgeGoogleMapViewer.RegisterGoogleMapsApiKey (or set MapAPIKey) before the map is shown. See the Quick Start.

The map is grey, or full of "for development purposes only"

The key is not valid for the Maps JavaScript API, billing is not enabled on its Google Cloud project, or its restrictions exclude the application. The browser console of the page tells which: open the DevTools of WebView2 on the map page and read it.

"cannot initilize Google Map Viewer" and "Check if webview2loader.dll is present"

WebView2Loader.dll is not next to the executable, or it is of the other bitness. See Deploying your application.

Is there a FireMonkey version?

No. The component is built on TEdgeBrowser, which is VCL and Windows only.

Which Delphi versions?

Delphi 10.4.2, 11, 12 and 13, Win32 and Win64, also in the IDE of 64 bit Delphi.

Can I use Leaflet, OpenStreetMap or another map instead of Google?

Not with this component: it is built on the Google Maps JavaScript API. Since it only builds a page and calls its functions, the technique of How it works is the same, but you would write the functions yourself.

I need a Google Maps function that the component does not have

Add your own JavaScript, see How it works. If it can be useful to others, a pull request on GitHub is welcome.

Why do my markers disappear when I change the colour scheme?

The colour scheme is a property of the map when it is created, so changing it creates the map again. Put the markers, circles and routes again after the change.

Is there a printable manual?

The pages of this site, and the demo. The demo is the reference for how each function is called.
